I'm Wondering
It's been awhile.
I'm wondering:- Is trying to find a new doctor worth saving $? My current one isn't on our insurance plan, so insurance is only paying 60%. Not cool.
- Is it normal for doctors offices to have you make payments in cash? Mine wants monthly $500 payments in CASH. Another reason to consider another doctor, even though I really like my doctor.
- Should I apply for Medi-Cal to pay the large sums our insurance company won't pay?
- Do some companies put you on hold for long periods of time to try to get you to hang up?
- Is it wrong of me to ask the government to shoulder the cost of my child?
- Should I get a new phone?

The only thing that I can think that could make the cash policy even make sense is the poor economy. Maybe they've been burned by credit cards and bounced checks?
Go with the public payments. You're asking your future self to pay via taxes.
The whole medical billing industry is a total scam. The hold times, the "mistakes" in denied claims, etc. is all to avoid payment.
1. Yes.
2. No. I would be wary of anyone demanding $500 payments in cash.
3. It might be worth it, though from what I hear, it's a hassle.
4.Yes, I'm quite certain that's deliberate.
5. Maybe, but lots of people do it, and I believe it's often necessary. After so many comments from people telling me my they're paying for my niece's operations through their taxes, I've vowed never to push that kind of guilt on anyone else (never mind that my sister had private insurance when she gave birth to a disabled child, which she ended up loosing in-between the various brain surgeries--what am I supposed to say--well, of course my sister should have shouldered a few million dollars worth of surgeries rather than rely on government help).
6. That entirely depends on what's wrong with your old one.
